She was a very sweet and affectionate lap dog. She was a long haired dachshund which made grooming a bit of a pain but otherwise she was a perfect indoor companion. She wasn't terribly bright so anything beyond basic house training was almost impossible. But she loved new people, loved our family, and never was yappy the way some small dogs can be.

The only downside to Sharlet was she suffered from a problem common to her breed, her spine was stressed from her exceptional length and it caused her a lot of pain in her later years. We eventually had to euthanize her after her walking became so painful that it was cruel to allow her to continue to suffer.

Overall: Great breed, wonderful family pet but if you are adopting a purebred make sure it is from a reputable breeder.
