Dexie was a rescue, abandoned by her owners when she became pregnant. She was rescued and her puppies were homed as well. I accepted her once she had gone through the spay and shot routine. Dexie is literally the smallest animal in a house with four dogs and four cats. But she makes her presence known. The larger and older dogs don't get away with anything, because she will fiercely defend her own food and/or toys. She is half minpin, which gives her the unique coloring of the miniature pinscher, and when excited can jump four feet straight up in the air. She's very loving and affectionate, but not very trusting of strangers at first. She learned the standard routine of the dogs quickly, and responded to her name within hours. She will nip if she feels threatened, but she's never drawn blood. She scares them away from pulling tails and ears without causing any serious damage. And she's a lap dog. Very good companion for someone who wants an object for affection. Low maintenance and high emotional returns.
