Lucy is a wonderful companion. She is mostly long-haird mini-dachshund with a bit of beagle mixed in. She is very intelligent and perceptive. She loves to ride in the car, sleep on her own pillow (on the bed of course) and is content to just be near me. The one issue that we have had with her and her brother is that they both have epilepsy; possibly from inbreeding, possibly from type of breed.
The vet visits are more often than the once per year, but over all Lucy is a very healthy girl who loves to run and play. She is also very maternal and loves kittens. We have two cats that were her "puppies" and although bigger than she is, they still come to her for grooming, etc.
I honestly do not know what I would do without Lucy. She is my companion and friend. She loves to go shopping; especially in the clothing section of Pet Smart. (She thinks it is her own personal boutique.) We go camping together, watch movies together, etc. While I have other dogs, the relationship is much different with her. Lucy is not my baby; she is my friend and my closest companion.
