I have had two of a Shepherd/Coyote mix dogs. One growing up and one currently. Both were found as stray puppies. Our male who was our guard dog as I was growing up was very good with us as children and EXTREMELY protective. He would whine to go out if we were in the yard without him. On camping trips, he never left our side. He would snap at you if your got in his way during dinner time. The female, Koda, we currently have is also very protective and highly energetic. She isn't a bitter, but rather a chewer. She is always on high alert and isn't afraid to let her big bark out when she senses anything from the wind to the UPS guy. I appreciate this about her, because living in the forest, I would rather be safe than sorry. This breed hoards their food until their owners return home, so you should not leave this breed for long periods of time. They also shed quite a bit so vacuuming is a daily routine in our house. They are a little wild, but with training and patience, they are great dogs.
