My dog has been with my family for as long as I can remember - I mean hey, she's 17! Until recent years she has always been very full of energy. She's very fun to watch when she's running around and playing. I do remember being a bit afraid of her when I was young, because she had so much energy. She was never aggressive with anyone in the family, however she was very hostile with strangers. We have always been careful to slowly introduce her to new people!

Some positives of her breed are that she is hypoallergenic and caring towards the family. She has also rarely had health problems, even at 17 she has very little "wrong" with her.

The major negative has been grooming! For a busy family, it has always been hard to find time to tame her fur and remove matted hair. It's also hard to find a groomer who can give her a proper cut, we aren't into her looking like a poodle. When groomed properly she is incredibly soft and cute! I'm also heartbroken every time I have to leave her alone.

Coton de Tulears may be a little bit needy, but I love coming home to such an excited dog! I highly recommend the breed so long as you are aware of the grooming and are happy to spend lots of time hanging out with your dog!
