The Coton de Tulear is a charming, sociable, companion breed. Cotons
actually prefer the companionship of humans to that of others dogs
(although they do get along famously with all dog breeds), so they
absolutely thrive & show their most clownish, adorable personalities
in homes where there is a stay-at-home mom, retired or semi-retired
individuals, or self-employed individuals. The Cotons are sometimes
called hypoallergenic "anti-stress" dogs. Many people with severe
allergies are able to tolerate the breed with no ill effects. Cotons
have no odor or doggie dander, and they do not shed. They are extremely
intelligent, and easily trained. They are a healthy breed with very few
genetic anomalies.
