I had a Collie for a couple of years when I was growing up. They're a beautiful breed and really have a regal quality about them. I actually named my dog "Prince" because he seemed so noble! In my experience, I found this breed to be very loyal and loving.
My Collie got along quite well with children. Prince never offered to bite anyone he encountered. He did chew everything (and I mean everything) he came in contact with as a puppy, but he outgrew that fairly quickly. He was also very energetic so if you are thinking of getting one, I would recommend that you have plenty of space for it to run around. My collie barked a little, but not excessively.
If you’re looking for a dog that likes to cuddle, you might want to go a different route. My Collie was fine for a little petting, but mostly he just wanted to play. He absolutely loved to play fetch. He was also highly intelligent and picked up tricks very easily.
Overall, I found my Collie to be a really sweet and loyal companion. It’s a great breed for active families with large yards.
