These dogs are totally beautiful. They are very calmed, sweet gentle, friendly and are great with children. As a veterinarian I have had various Collie patients and they are really easy to handle and very loving. They are extremely nervous dogs and they need a relatively quiet environment. Collies are prone to panic attacks, in fact, one of my patients died due to stress on a holiday (because of all the noise and fireworks) so this is a serious concern with Collies. Some of the diseases that I have observed more frequently in these dogs are: collie nose (nasal solar dermatitis), collie eye anomaly (inherited eye disorder), Collie granuloma (an immune system disorder), allergies and sensibility to certain drugs such as ivermectin. Overall, I would definitely recommend Collies as family pets.
