When I was a young lad, we got a collie/shepherd mixed breed after my dad's boxer died. This dog, which looked mostly collie, was the smartest, best-behaved dog I've ever known. Shown the fences at our property lines, Terry never crossed them. I would play "football" with her, having her sit while I crouched and then tackled her. Incredibly, she would do this as long as I wanted. She also was very gentle with children, never nipping even when hassled, although she did mix it up now and then with our cats. I was once told that this mix was the best possible dog, and I'd have to agree.
