Christopher was one of nine puppies. His mother Poochie was pregnant when she decided our porch was a good place to give birth. My father trained him from a puppy to be a guard dog and his one command was protect the baby (me). He was my shadow. If I was home alone, no one could come to the door. Otherwise, if the family was around he was all right. He didn't like men. He bit a boy once, but didn't draw blood. He nipped my grandfather and uncle a few times, even after he was fixed. He loved to be brushed and he wanted to be with the family at night and outside during the day. He chased the neighbors cats, but never bothered ours because they were part of his pack. He herded me around too, stepping between me if he didn't want me to go somewhere. He was about 50 lbs and was very loyal to me and the family.
