My dog was a mix of collie and German shepherd. His history of life was unique. He was abandoned (his owners had him since he was a puppy and he was trianed) he never left the house were he and his owners used to live, until my family found him. It looks like he was waiting for them to come back.
So my family adopted him (when we adopted him, he was an adult dog and he stayed with us for 4 years more).
I can say that he was a smart dog, very loyal, loving, calm, sweet with childrens, shy with other “smaller” dogs, protector, adaptable to any weather (we took him to the beach once and he love it :) and sensitive. He wasn´t very active maybe because of his age, and he liked more to lay down and sleep, but always close to someone. Didn´t like to be alone.
Because of his long hair, we just brush it everyday...really easy to groom and needs few care.
The collie have an instinct of protection very well developed. But he could be very reserve and may be shy with people he doesn´t know, he can observe first and then approach.
This is definetly a family dog: great companion for kids and adults.
