I have been around this breed of dog since childhood. The one that I was living with for the longest period of time was the runt of her litter but lived the longest. She was extremely loving and always happy to see you. She was super easy-going and would respond kindly to things like being dressed up and meeting new people. One thing that was particularly interesting is that she would take turns sleeping in our beds. There were 3 different bedrooms in the house and she would rotate as though to show everyone that she loved them equally. It seems like we can learn a lot about love from a dog. I think everyone should own a cocker spaniel. She was incredible with children; very gentle. I'm mostly talking about Julie but Valerie was a sweetheart, too, and I was around her when I was a child. Valerie followed me EVERYWHERE which was very touching for me as a child. I felt that I had a best friend who loved me unconditionally. One day, when I have my own children, I'm going to get them a cocker spaniel.
