My first pet was a black Cocker Spaniel. I had never had a pet before and so I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into. I'm not sure I could imagine a better first pet. He was excellent to have around, and always showed affection, obviously was easy to train because I got him at 6 months and I never had to do any additional training for him for the 3-4 years I owned him. I'd recommend a Cocker Spainel to pretty much anybody. Unfortunately I moved countries and had to give him up, but it was hard to do! He also got along quite well with my pet Siamese cat.
