A "timeshare" dog, Poppy has a main owner who calls her Izzy. I, on the other hand, am a sort of respite foster-carer. Why? Because her real owner has a pack of around eight canines, of whom our little Poppy is the bottom of the heap. Ever-so-'umble, she puts up with a lot of bullying, but when with me she is a sole princess. Unfortunately, my circumstances mean I cannot have a full-time mutt. But I would have Poppy - she is intelligent, easy to train, and quiet (although the neighbours tell me she barks when home alone).
A Spanish spaniel, she is less temperamental than her English cousins, but she shares certain characteristics: high-energy and a love of wandering off on solo expeditions. Her favourite thing? Being in a car: anyone's, any time. And the longer the journey, the happier she is.
