My life with a cocker spaniel

Cockers are great dogs for company, fun, ideal for children and always looking for some adventures indoors or outdoors. Despite their beautiful appearance, and their angelic eyes, don't let them fool you..they are little trouble makers. First of all, they want all the attention on them, also their excellent smelling ability (they are tracker dogs) can be either an advantage or disadvantage. They can find you if they lose you, but they can smell food 10 meters away, which can be a really frustrating thing during the day and can cause some serious problems to their health such as obesity. After 8 years with a cocker in my life, I conclude to the following: they are friendly, smart, healthy, and living doorbells for a house (forget these mid-day naps) but you have to be consistent with their personal cleaning, grooming, and the house cleaning as well. If you are ready to commit to this routine go for it. But if you are a little bit lazy cleaning-wise forget about that breed. Despite all the cons I cannot think about my life without my cocker!
