Brandy the Cocker Spaniel

Brandy was an amazing dog and an important part of our family. My mother had throughout my entire childhood, so she was obviously amazing with children. She was always calm and took the abuse which children are prone to give without ever snapping. She slept with either me, one of my two brothers, or my mother every night. She almost never barked even when people would knock on the door. She was the ideal pet for a family with young children. She was also very obedient and listened well to commands (My brothers and I would often fight over who could have Brandy sleep in their room by calling her. Poor Brandy would walk back and forth in the hallway not knowing who's call to obey). Brandy did not like swimming, and would only tolerate going on a boat.

Brandy required a lot of grooming due to her long coat, which was prone to knots and clumping. She was also very prone to ear infections and would often require medicine to remedy them. She was also prone to bad breath. Brandy died of congestive heart failure after being very sick for about a month. However, aside from these health problems Brandy was a healthy, happy dog for the majority of her life.
