Cocker Spaniels Are A Special Breed

We got our Cocker Spaniel Rocky at Christmas when I was about 10 years old. He was given away by a friend of the family, and we had him for about 15 years after that!
Rocky was a very friendly dog, very energetic and always ready to play.
Cocker Spaniels will definitely give you the loyalty and companionship every dog lover wants, but are truly going to make you work for it!
He was tricky to train, and we ended up finally investing in obedience school to help with his barking and pulling when walking.
He was housebroken fairly early, but still had an accident every so often.
One thing to keep in mind in regards to vet costs is that since Cocker Spaniels have floppy ears, they can get infected very easily, so they need to be kept extremely clean and dry at all times or this can get costly (we learned the hard way!).
Overall I was very happy having Rocky as part of our family, but probably wouldn't choose a Cocker Spaniel for my next dog if given the option.
