When someone applies to adopt any of our Catahoulas at the rescue, the first question I ask is "Are you a runner?". Catahoulas have an incredible amount of energy and will run for miles and miles without a rest. They are stunning dogs with spotted coats of varying colors. I have met many, many dogs of this breed and I can say they are remarkable.

Things to know:
-If you don't have a fenced in yard, this is NOT the dog for you (unless you plan to run for 5 miles with your pet every morning and evening)
-TRAINING, with any larger breed- energetic dog training is crucial. Nobody wants an unruly dog that can outrun you!
-They are very intelligent. It is important to assert dominance early on because they will take advantage of any chances they get to misbehave :)
