My family bought Caesar from a professional breeder when I was 5 years old. He didn't pass away until I was 15. I didn't have a lot of friends growing up, so I became close to him. He almost seemed to sense when something was amiss. He was always incredibly energetic and happy to be around people, but knew when to be protective of us. He was an intelligent dog and was easy to train.
Their fur grows long fast and needs regular grooming, i.e. a haircut and a bath, pretty often. Another con is that because of their spunky nature, they're bound to get into things they shouldn't - eating food, knocking things around, you name it. Occasionally when we tried to scold him he'd retaliate and snap at us, but we nipped that in the bud with some operant conditioning.
Like any dog breed, they'll easily become your best friend if you're willing to remain patient even when they make mistakes.
