Strong but Gentle Boxer

I had the pleasure of pet sitting for a super strong but gentle boxer. At first his size and strength were slightly intimidating - over 80 pounds of muscle and taller than me on his hind legs! However his gentleness with me and my dog won me over. Thankfully he was very obedient and friendly and very patient with my exuberant dog. He even shared his water bowl and toys.
One thing he required was to have his coat sprayed with scented water in a spray bottle whenever he came in from outside. Otherwise he was a very smelly boy!
I was alarmed when he hopped up on the bed at night to give me a hug goodnight and practically crushed me! After the hug he got off my bed and slept in his bed on the floor.
Unfortunately, he had a heart condition that made it difficult for him to walk very far without taking a break. He knew his limits and would just stop and lay down when he needed to rest. It was sad to see him be uncomfortable but it did not keep him from being a good boy.
He was a very loving dog and he missed his family when they were away.
