Acquired: Rescue / shelter organization

Thirteen years ago, my sister and I were browsing petfinder.com. We saw a picture of a cute brindle colored puppy with an under bite. The shelter named him Pretzel but we changed it to Loki. He was the last of his litter. His mom was an Australian Sheppard but they weren't sure what the dad was. Most people who see him think Boxer. I adopted Loki long before I was married or had kids. For a dog that was raised by women with little exposure to men and kids, he adjusted beautifully once the boyfriend/husband/kids did come along. Loki is very intelligent, loyal, and protective. I can talk to him in a normal, speaking voice and he understands what I'm saying and responds/follows directions such as "get off the bed" , "time to eat" , "let's go outside." He does bark more than I'd like but I think that comes with being protective of me, the kids, and the house. I understand he wants to keep his family safe. Loki is also extremely active and runs around the backyard with the energy of a puppy. No one believes me when I say he's 13 years old.
