Boston Terrier Mix Great for Adults

My parents have a Boston Terrier mix named Ripley who is possibly the most hysterical dog I've ever known. He really has a great personality. He loves to play with other dogs, chase balls, and herd animals (my parents have a cattle farm). However, the herding instinct can sometimes become a little overwhelming because he will also try to herd people. My dad says he's neurotic, but I find his crazy behaviors endearing. His favorite pose looks just like the downward dog pose in yoga, and he lays like that all the time, with his face on the ground and his butt up in the air. He loves all members of our family, but he is incredibly protective and not friendly to strangers, especially children. We have to watch him constantly when other people are around because he looks so cute that everyone wants to pet him, but he's definitely a biter. I've never seen him really latch into anyone and draw blood, but I've seen him nip quite a few people. In terms of grooming, his short hair is easy to keep clean, but he does shed a lot.
