Acquired: Rescue / shelter organization
Posted November 24, 2014
We got Mel from a rescue shelter. She had been passed through five other homes before we took her in.
She suffered from contact and food allergies and no one else wanted to deal with it. When we got her home and cleaned up, she settled in, but seemed anxious. It wasn't until about a year in our home that she started to seem "at home." After we straightened out her diet and started allergy shot injections, she stayed growing back more of her hair until she finally looked like a normal healthy dog.
After the birth of my daughter she became attached to her, and now after seven years the two of them are always together.
Mel really is the best dog I've ever had. I couldn't ask for a better temperament. I am thankful that we do have land in which she can run and play to get her energy out.
