We got Saffy from a shelter. The journey home she cried the whole way in my arms, and I cried too. She was so tiny, the size of my hand. She couldn't be alone for the first few weeks. I would often be downstairs at 2am with my mum trying to soothe the puppy to sleep. Saffy as a pup was really hyper active and playful, we barely had energy to keep up. She's a very nervous dog though, at Halloween when fireworks would go off, she would pee and cower in a corner. If you got up too quick, she would run from the room in fear and we were never aggressive with her, it was just in her nature. Growing up with her was easy, she was great with kids. She would lick everyone! But as she gets older, she has nothing but health problems. Arthritis, she's now on HRT as she started bleeding constantly which is apparently common for dogs of her breed if they are nurtured. She can barely jump up to the car and has to be lifted into the boot when we bring her to the beach. Ear infections were very common as well. She was happy, makes everyone smile. I've never had a guest in the house who didn't fall in love with her.
