I purposely sought out a Border Collie/English Shepherd cross as I was looking for a herding dog as well as a farm dog.  I didn't want the high strung nature of a Border all the time with focus only on herding.  I got a great dog!  Not only is she a great dog with the sheep, but she's always at my side, watching out for any danger.  I have a ram that will use my as a target if given the chance, but not with Zoe around.  She just loves working.  She can't wait to go see the sheep.  She does have a subborn nature that was difficult for me to overcome during initial training.  After I realized that I needed to be more interesting than anything else around her, she did just great.  She went through beg, interm. and advanced training, then began herding training.  We continue to work on the herding and she does a nice job.  She's only 2 and has matured into a fine farm dog-just what I was looking for.
