A breed you need to own to believe

This is a fantastic breed. As with all breeds you need to just be very careful and selective on the breeder you get them from. Be especially aware of breeders cross breeding these wonderful dogs to Pit Bulls and other various breeds. As always ask for health testing on parents to the pup you are planning to get. All Blue Lacys are family
dogs and do well around children. If this
is not the case the dog in question has a faulty temperament and should
NEVER be
bred. The problem is you have irresponsible and careless breeders that
don't
care about the whole package and breed anything they own. A breeder
should look
to his or her breeding stock for all three: working/tracking ability,
conformation and temperament. If the dog doesn't hold up under scrutiny
for any
one of these things it should NOT be bred no matter how good a working dog it
is. Period!

These dogs are incredibly smart, just show them something once or twice and that's all it takes making them a natural for competition and dog sports.
