The Most Wonderful Family Dog But Difficult to Walk

Beagles are, in my opinion, the best breed for families. They are incredibly loving, enthusiastic, protective and very patient and gentle with small children. The biggest, and really the only downside, is that beagles can be difficult to walk-because they are a hound then they need to explore every smell, which makes for a very slow and sometimes frustrating pace when taking the dog on a walk. They also sometimes can experience separation anxiety, as our beagle used to whine constantly if crated. However, despite those two downsides, they are wonderful pets and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
