My dog is basically a sibling to me. I have grown up with him since age 10 and can't imagine a life without him. Sometimes he's gross though. For instance, he likes giving lots of kisses, but mineral makeup doesn't pay for itself, and dog saliva is a terrible astringent. He also smells bad. He loves chasing squirrels in the back yard, even at nine years old with a torn ligament in his knee. He's incredibly active and has kept his puppy-ness with age. He also loves the snow. When we shovel he runs after us, trying to catch the snow in his mouth. He's pretty smart too. He doesn't know too many tricks, but he's obedient. However, he's a little too friendly on walks. He tries to run after other dogs to play with them. It's not that he wants to hurt them, but it does scare some other dog owners when they see a 60lb mutt barreling towards them at full speed ahead. Overall though, I'd say he's a great dog and I look forward to spending his senior years with him. I'll miss him when he passes on.
