Max was a great watch dog, which is probably the best thing that you'll read on this review. He barked and howled pretty much constantly. It was so bad that our neighbors and our entire block hated us and threatened to take him to a shelter or something. He also once broke free from a logging chain to chase a rabbit. He was a little escape artist. He frequently slipped his collar to chase after deer and various other wildlife. These are definitely outside dogs, but even at that, you'll encounter some difficulties. Their ears get pretty dirty because they hang in their food, on the ground, and get into everything. And, because they're short, they'll get burs and mud and all sorts of stuff on their legs and belly. They also aren't afraid to jump into creeks, rivers, etc. to chase after wildlife.
