Ringo the beagle: loud, fat, and lovable.

Ringo was my first canine companion. I remember being 9-years-old and my mother completing surprising my sister I with young Ringo -- a lovable beagle basset hound mix.

In his younger days, he was playful and quite healthy. Sometimes on walks, his powerful hound nose would pick up on a scent, and he'd try to track it -- causing quite a surprise for your arm at the other end of the leash.

However, as the years went on, he soon grew into the typical health issues dogs of his breed typically encounter; massive weight gain, arthritis, heart issues, etc. These ailments started to rack up vet bills and eventually slowed him down into a lifestyle of aloofness.

Still, despite his issues, one thing was always for certain: when it came time for us eat, Ringo would bark. Always. Non-stop.

He may have not been my ideal dog personality-wise, but he was my best friend as a kid. Miss ya buddy.
