Review from a long-time Basset Hound owner

I love my Basset Hound/Beagle mix! She is the first mix I've had; prior to her I have had purebred Bassets. She is great with my kids and loves to cuddle, especially with our cat. My husband taught her to "sit" and "shake" within a day or two of getting her. Unfortunately, housebreaking did not come so easily. While she is housebroken now, I don't trust her to be alone in the house for more than a few hours at a time. She is very playful! She loves to go outside, but if she catches a scent she will take off. It is best to keep her and all Bassets on a leash unless you have a lot of room for them to run! When she is inside, however, she is laid back. If you are considering a Basset/Beagle mix, make sure you have the time and patience for housebreaking. In return, you will receive a lifetime of love and cuddles!
