I got our Basset boy at the age of 4 months. He was a hyper-active dog and was very active from day one!
It took very less time for him as a puppy to learn few basic commands like sit, stand, down etc and is perfect with them.
Since we got him as a puppy it was easy to potty-train him and we easily housebroke him without efforts.
Now as a young adult, Our Shifu is a charming and friendly dog. But, he has lost that hyper activeness with proper exercises and is more obedient.
His learning abilities have come down drastically unless we keep on imposing on him.
Bassets are very forgetful by nature! They don't even listen to you if they find something to sniff on!
They are the biggest food beggers! they do anything and everything for food!
and are always 24x7 hungry!!!!!
With all these things they very lovable, independent, mild and happy go lucky dogs.
