I babysat 3 basset hounds for a few months and it was hilarious! They were lovely dogs, extremely friendly and very playful.

The reason they required sitting for was that when their owners went out at night and they were left on their own, they would start to whine after a few hours alone. Even with three of them together, they missed their people!

The female was the most gentle and the most likely of the three to do her own thing. The youngest male was the loudest and was very demanding of attention. But all three were very sweet, and I would definitely consider owning basset hounds in the future - HOWEVER....

They are really, REALLY heavy! If they are allowed on the furniture and your sofa is low (they can't climb/jump very well), you can easily find a basset lying across your lap. Trust me, if one of those darlings doesn't want to let you get up, it's really difficult to move them!
