The Basenji, the Vibrant Dog!

When we first found our Basenji, we lived the Middle East. A beautiful dog with an amazing personality. These dogs are a cinch to train. Infact these dogs are highly intelligent. Many say that these dogs are not supposed to bark, but I can tell you that they do bark - and they have a bite too!
Ours was highly strung, very playful and loved kids - however because we did find the dog in the wild he was very nervous and would be quick to bite.
Our dog was a very fussy eater, and would either eat only good quality dog food (if there is such a thing) or home made food.
This dog does require a bit of walking, so we would walk him roughly 3 times a day. Best as an inside dog rather than an outside dog, as they do not have thick fur. They love to be close to their owners and are extremely protective and loyal. If they do not like your friends or family, they will certainly let you know!
Other than that, these dogs are very quick to learn anything, so do not underestimate the intelligence of these dogs. Teach them once, they learn, teach them twice they remember.
Picked up as a puppy, they will be easy to manage. They are perfect for young couples looking for a vibrant animal and will live to a ripe age if looked after.
