When I was growing up, we had dogs on the ranch all the time. We had a few Australian Shepherds over the years. They were very friendly and happy dogs. They are easy to train. Being a working dog, these dogs need to have a lot of room to run. We had a female dog that we had bred several times. She never had any problems having her puppies and she was a very good mother.
They are very healthy and sturdy dogs. I know that this is not always the case, but we had an Aussie that got bit by a rattlesnake twice and lived through both of them. When she did die, it was of old age.
