I was quite young when my family first got 'Shadow', but her and I quickly bonded as we aged together. At the time I lived in a very rural setting and had many acres to roam freely. She absolutely loved every chance she had to go exploring along with me, but would rarely leave on her own.
She was very curious and had a couple run-ins with porcupines and skunks, but if I caught her before she got too close I was usually able to call her away.
She often enjoyed howling along to random coyote groups that would venture too close to our house, but was smart enough to never get tangled up with any of them, always keeping a safe distance.
Whenever visitors would come, the sound of her barking would be the first thing we'd hear, but usually once she recognized the vehicle she would stop and although she would put up a lot of noise barking she would usually sulk away if there was any real threat.
The only real trouble I had with her was her being around very young children. She wasn't as used to them and didn't the right amount of patience with them and would often snap at them in warning. Due to this, we often kept the younger children away unless they had some supervision with them.
