Anatolian shepherds were bred as Livestock Guardian Dogs. Their job is to live with livestock and guard them. Stella came here as a pup and immediately began training as a guardian dog. She lives with sheep and goats full-time now (as a pup she was slowly exposed and gradually spent more and more time with them). Stella does an amazing job of not only guarding but providing emotional support to sick stock or new moms. She even has her own Facebook page! While I can't speak to the Anatolian as a house dog, as a guardian dog they are awesome. Prepare for some digging, barking, especially at night (the warning to predators) and moderate shedding when the climate changes. Oh, did I mention they like to dig? A lot!
