A staffordshire terrier isn't exactly a pit bull, but it's a very similar breed and often mistaken for one. Staffies and pits are often thought to be scary, and they do look and sound the part. But if you want a big, affectionate, teddy bear of a dog -- get one of these and train it well. There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. In my experience, these dogs get a bad reputation because they want so badly to please their owner that they can be trained to do almost anything. And if you train them to be loving sidekicks, that's exactly what they will be. I definitely recommend doing your research and this is not the pet for an inexperienced owner. But they can make amazing pets.
