Our American Staffordshire terrier/pit bull mix is very friendly with people, including children of all ages. She's inexpensive to maintain and requires little grooming. From an early age, she was trained against biting and does not bite people, however a negative experience caused her to become fear aggressive towards other dogs. It has nothing to do with her breed, just the experience. She had hip replacement surgery on both hips at age 2 and requires pain meds in her senior years. Very smart and alert; one person dog. She's very stubborn so firm training is required. She needs consistency. Maybe not the best guard dog because if someone strange comes in without us home, she just licks them! Unfortunately pit bulls are banned just about everywhere; if you ever have to move into an apartment, you might have to get rid of yours.
