We saw Jasey on a dog rescue website. She had been used as a breeding dog and fighting dog. She had almost no fur due to severe mange. She was malnourished and had just had a litter of puppies. And she had the most soulful eyes I have ever seen. We knew we had to adopt her and give her a wonderful home.
Jasey's recovery was a long process. She had numerous treatments to clear up the mange, and it took a while to get her weight up to normal. She was also a high risk spay because of the numerous times she had been pregnant. But she recovered fully and is now a wonderful, healthy dog.
Jasey has always been wonderful around people and is very calm and gentle. She gets along well with other dogs, but definitely shows that she is top dog (alpha). The only time we've had issues with her is over food. Not when she's eating with people around. Just on the few times where she has found food and one of our other dogs tries to get it to. She has attacked several of our dogs over this food aggression. But she's never done it when people are around her. And it stems from being starved and fighting for food when she was younger. She has never shown any aggression towards people at all. And loves kids. She is very calm and gentle around children.
Jasey has learned all of her basic commands and she's okay with training. She's not the easiest dog I've trained :-). But she was a breeze to crate train and she loves learning tricks if there are treats involved.
She is a very good watch dog and barks when someone is at the door before they can ever ring the doorbell.
She requires very minimal grooming. And is one of the very few dogs that don't seem to get that "dog" smell.
We all love our bully mix. She has been an amazing addition to our family!
