Pup was my first pet. He was an outside dog and this lead to his death from heartworms. We had a fenced in backyard and Pup used to run around in it so much that he created his own 'race track'. He was good at keeping an eye on the backyard and would frighten anyone who was trespassing. I was about 5 years old at the time, and he was the sweetest, most gentle dog-- I have since been bitten by a Rottweiler and no longer like big dogs, but I loved Pup.

He was an outside dog since he was too big and too energetic to be an inside dog. When my parents would leave the door open by accident, he would run in the house and immediately to my room and jump on my bed to be petted. He made me feel special.

If he was an indication of his breed, then Foxhounds are gentle guardians who need affection and to be outside.
