As a first time American Eskimo owner, I am amazed by my dog's intelligence. She picks up on new tricks almost immediately as long as she is properly motivated. With her intelligence comes stubbornness, though. She tests her boundaries and requires an alpha to put her in her place. She is VERY attached to my boyfriend and myself, and is super affectionate. "Eskies" require a lot of grooming, so if you are considering the breed, be prepared to commit to at least 30 minutes of brushing every week. All in all, we are head over heels for our dog, and we would get another American Eskimo in a heartbeat.
