I came into owning Pickle when a friend moved out of country and I was going to dog sit for a few years.
It turned out that it was love. She loved me and I loved her. Pickle was and still is the smartest dog ever. I am convinced that she could understand humans better than a 3 to 4 year old. Her repertoire of tricks grew daily.
She was mostly good with people and kids but could be stubborn. My adult daughter was watching her for me and called to say that Pickle refused to go outside due to rain. I had her put the phone to Pickle's ear. I said, "You better get out there and potty." Pickle's eyes got wide and she ran outside and did her business. My daughter never had a problem getting her to go out again.
She was a fierce protector and a lover. She loved chasing bubbles and would do so as long as you blew them for her.
Her health left something to be desired. She was prone to ear infections, allergies and noxious gas.
She lived to age 13 when she died in a tornado. She was still pretty healthy then, except for the skin issues from allergies.
I would have another if the chance arose and would recommend for home or apartment living.
