Acquired: Breeder (hobby breeder)

Spike was a rare dog. We bought him for $19 on the street, some woman was selling the puppies her dog had just had. She said he was an American Bulldog. I know he wasn't pure bred, but he was in all honesty the best dog I've owned to date. He was socialized with people and animals, he had a lovely disposition and was just an all around joy.
Growing up, we lived on a farm, and it was very common to see Spike making his rounds through the chicken coop, not bothering the chickens, but collecting eggs (usually about 6-8) that he would gingerly grasp between his teeth until he had his little pile in the shade, and then he would sit there and crack them open one at a time and eat the eggs.
He was the joy to our family, and when he passed it was devastating. I would highly recommend an American Bulldog as a family pet. They bark when there's trouble, and other than that they are just an amazingly happy breed of dog.
