My family has been a big fan of the German shepherds from a long time, but it was not long ago that we got as a gift an American Akita, a similar kind of dog physically but very different in personality. The personality of the Akitas is less amicable as compared with the German shepherds, but they bring a stronger companionship in the shape of a more muscular dog with a lot of style and a very powerful animal. If you are looking for a robust German shepherds, the American Akitas are your safest bet. They are also great with children.
