Meisha the Alaskan Malamute

I loved our Alaskan Malamute, but I caution anyone with small pets or small children to consider several factors before choosing this breed. To a grown adult, there is very little chance this dog would ever harm you, but I can't say the same for our poor neighbor cat. We owned Meisha for seven years on a large plot of land in the country without any incidents. Unfortunately, despite keeping her on a long leash during the day, Meisha took the life of a neighbor cat that wandered into her territory. Naturally, we were devastated, but Alaskan Malamutes have a natural hunting mentality. In addition, their double coats can be extremely cumbersome to groom. On a positive note, Meisha was a fun dog who loved to play! We had many enjoyable years with her. I recommend this breed to anyone who has a large enough plot of land to avoid excessive contact with small animals.
