Nova - Our Bright Star

Nova was difficult to convince he was not in fact a lap dog. He always wanted to jump up and cuddle even though his size was no longer optimal. He successfully completed obedience training but could not quite get the hang of not elongating the arm of anyone on the other end of the leash. He loved digging holes in the backyard and was happy to stay outside for hours. He also enjoyed hiking.

While Nova was very good with our son and very affectionate as far as family members go, he had a very high prey drive. It's started out as chasing squirrels and unfortunately progressed to being violent with some cats. He bonded very closely with our German Shepherd. He blew his coat a couple times a year and generated some sizeable hair tumbleweeds. Overall, he was a great dog but was not cat friendly.
