I spend every summer with Jessie on my grandma's farm. She's an outdoor dog only, very hardy and survives incredibly cold temperatures in her dog house. She's better with children than she is unfamiliar adults, probably due to the kids seeming like less of a threat. We had her chase off intruders on the farm before when they tried to steal one of her pups. She chases off coyotes too, and is good around the cats. She's smart and if she'd had more training she'd probably be a better dog, but we're happy with her. She stays near the house most of the time unless she runs off to the dump. Her puppies all stayed in our extended family and all turned out to be fine dogs too, some of whom went to homes with kids and were fine.
