Alaskan Husky- too smart for their own good

I've had a number of different Huskys and Husky mixes. They are very quick learners and love their people. Because they are extremely smart, they can get themselves into trouble. It is very common for them to be able to get over fences, even 6 foot privacy fences. They also can usually run through an electric fence. So, at least at first, you really have to watch them in the yard. They are usually great with other dogs. The females can sometimes tend to have an alpha personality. Many Huskys have a high prey drive, so they are normally not best in a home with no cats or small animals. They are generally great with kids, and strangers. They are normally very vocal. They are not good dogs for apartments because they need a lot of exercise. They are very loyal and can be awesome dogs, as long as they get the proper exercise, socialization, and training.
