Acquired: Breeder (hobby breeder)

I grew up with our Airdale Terrier dog, my father got him for us, but I am not sure I would recommend this breed for families with little children.
Body had been previously trained in obedience, and he could follow some commands. We, as kids, tried to teach him some tricks. I am not sure if all Airdales react the same way, but as far as I'm concerned these dogs are really good as guardians. While trying to teach him those tricks, we encountered some problems. My sister pretended I was attacking her, to see how the dog would react. Even though we had had him for a while, he jumped on me and knocked me over. He had issues with a neighbor who walked into our garden.
I would say Airdale Terriers can be really loyal, perhaps too loyal. They are independent and I think, are more comfortable in an athmosphere of discipline.
It's a dog I would really recommend for families with older children who have previous experience with dogs. Our Terrier was adorable, but we had to keep an eye on him when we were not in the house.
